Heester focusses on how we shape our world.
After his study landscape design, he received his master at the Amsterdam School for The Arts in city design.
During his career as a landscape and city designer at the municipality of Amsterdam, Heester published various theories and innovative design concepts regarding the way we shape our world. In addition he won a prize in a respectful international architecture competition.
He developed a curiosity in opposing forces to the design of cities. His analyses resulted in the creation of a series of sculptural works and photo collages. Some of which where invited for museum exhibitions. Also, Heester was commissioned an art project in the public space of Amsterdam.
His findings led to the series of his final theory concerning the culture of society (medium: ink on paper.)
Afterwards Heester was invited to live in Iceland for a year while making a living as a visiting professor in city- and landscape design. During his stay he concluded all his findings in a series of land art compositions.
Each composition shows a juxtaposition of effort and context. Reflecting on the cultivation of natural landscapes.

Heester concludes that the world today is a physical manifestation of its culture. In his works Heester focusses on the cultural aspect of how we shape our world. Projects can be categorized in three stages, in chronological order:

1: Projects that visualise Heester his perception on the culture of society.
Medium: various materials and digital collages.

2: Projects that visualise Heester his explanation on the culture of society.
Medium: paper and ink.

3: Projects that visualise Heester his inspiration on the culture of society.
Medium: landart, materials on site.

All works by Heester have been destroyed.
Except for the spiders project, that has been donated to the NDSM Warf in Amsterdam as a form of funding.
